Checking and Changing Your Cabin Filter

Author: Jamie   Date Posted:19 June 2018

Are you getting bad smells and odours in your vehicle when the Air-conditioning or heater is on? The cabin filter in your car might need replacement.

The cabin air filter, a feature found on most late-model vehicles, cleans the air that comes into the interior through the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system. It catches dust, pollen and other airborne material that can make riding in a car unpleasant, particularly if you have allergies or other respiratory problems. Some often get this filter confused with the Air Filter for the engine.

Most vehicle manufacturers recommend that the cabin filter be replaced every 20,000km’s, or at least once a year. Depending on your location, or the amount of driving you do, determines whether or not the cabin filter needs to be replaced and how often. You would be surprised at the state of some of the filters we have removed from some vehicles!

Scott’s Rods Performance Exhausts and Mechanical Yamanto will check the cabin filter at a scheduled logbook service, and when possible with a minor service, or when requested. If required, we will replace the filter, but will let the customer know first before we do. Some of these cabin filters are in hard to get to places in some vehicles, and can take more time to remove and inspect.

If you’re not sure, come and see us at 25 Belar Street, Yamanto, or Phone us at (07) 3812 0266 to book your vehicle in with us.
